Description Black salt, known in India as Kala Namak, is an unrefined mineral salt. It is not actually black, but a pearly pinkish gray colour. Used extensively in Indian cuisine, it has a strong, sulphuric flavour and odour. It is used by some vegan chefs to add egg flavour to their dishes.
