This chocolate delicacy, wrapped like a bonbon, was created between the 19th and 20th centuries and has become part of the collective consciousness of the inhabitants of the capital of Piedmont. Legend has it that the name CRI-CRI was born from the love story between Paolo and Cristina. Before each meeting with his beloved, Paolo always visited a pastry shop where he bought unnamed chocolate pralines. The saleswoman, who knew both of them, always asked him: “Cri?” And Paolo replied with a lover’s smile: “Cri!”. The owner of the pastry shop, who witnessed this scene every day, decided to name these chocolate pralines, surrounded by small sugar balls and filled with a roasted hazelnut core, CRI-CRI.
